Masonry Repair

Brick, Block, and Stone

When it comes to preserving the integrity of your home or building, masonry repairs are more than just cosmetic—they’re structural. At Personal Touch Service Solutions, we specialize in expert restoration of brick, block, and stone surfaces. Whether it’s deteriorating mortar joints, cracking brickwork, or bowing walls, we address the root cause to ensure lasting results. Our team is led by a master mason with over 45 years of experience in construction, tuckpointing, block stabilization, and the careful preservation of historic materials.

We treat repointing as a structural intervention, not just a thin cosmetic overlay—removing compromised mortar deep enough that the new joint is actually adding to the structural stability of the building. Our masons carefully match materials in color, aggregate size, and type of joint to maintain your building’s original character. We specialize in historic masonry from the 1800s, using original lime putty mortar and lime/portland blends. We approach each project with precision, care, and a deep respect for craftsmanship. If your masonry is showing signs of age, call us for a no-cost assessment and discover what expert restoration can do.

  • What’s the difference between repointing and tuckpointing?

While many people use the terms interchangeably, Personal Touch provides repointing which is considered a structural repair—removing deteriorated mortar to an adequate depth and replacing it with new mortar that matches the original composition and color.Tuckpointing is more of a cosmetic layover, often only one quarter of an inch thick.  We focus on repointing, so that it not only looks good but is pointed deep enough to last for decades.

  • How do I know if my brick or stone needs repair?

Look for crumbling or cracked mortar, loose bricks or stones, or bowing walls. Another telltale sign is if water is leaking through your masonry or you are noticing water stains on drywall or white powdery residue ( efflorescence) on brick, block, or stone.  We offer no-cost evaluations and honest feedback for any of your maintenance needs.

  • Do you work on historic homes or older buildings?

Absolutely. With decades of experience, including work on 150 year old churches and historic homes, we respect traditional materials and construction methods. We use lime mortar and lime mortar blends that were the same type used in the 1800’s, period-appropriate tools, and old-world techniques to ensure any repair honors the original structure.

  • Can you install cultured as well as natural stone?

Yes, our team is happy to assist you in your install projects from brick veneers, cultured stone, new garden walls, and outdoor kitchens.
